Not the Same The fact is, that while they may look quite similar at first glance, they are quite different in a number of ways. To begin with, the cute, inexpensive clip on models back at the store are manufactured to much lighter specifications for occasional family style use. Accidentally drop one on the floor and there is a good chance that that will be the end of it. Even More Differences Also, cheap price means cheap batteries that are going to fizzle out quickly if they are put to every day use. Still more, is that the cheaper models don't have multiple channel options, so they are extremely limmited in how thay can be used. Lastly, by federal law it is illegal for a commercial business to use off the shelf unlicensed two way radios in their business operations. Its a Great System Does this mean that things are stacked unfavorably, either against businesses or private citizens who wish to use two way radios? Not at all and in fact all thin s that differentiate the two types of radios are in place to protect both businesses and private citizens. It Works for All Parties When a business purchases and uses licensed two way radios they are assured that their communications will not be interrupted all day by two kids playing in a field with the set of two way radios that they got for Christmas. Also, by having unlicensed mass produced two way radios available for consumers the public is assured affordable prices. |
